It was another wet day at SW19 on Saturday as play was largely limited to the show courts. However, there was still plenty of action and some major upsets, including world number one Iga Swiatek losing to Yulia Putintseva and two-time Wimbledon champion Ons Jabeur being eliminated by Elina Svitolina.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Novak Djokovic, Taylor Fritz and Alexander Zverev eased into the last 16, while there were also victories for Holger Rune, Danielle Collins and Jeļena Ostapenko.
Today at the All-England Club, there are some fascinating encounters as world number one Jannik Sinner plays the dangerous Ben Shelton; reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz takes on 16th seed Ugo Humbert; second seed Coco Gauff plays compatriot Emma Navarro; and home favorite Emma Radacanu faces Lulu Sun.
Carlos Alcaraz is seeking a fourth major singles title after winning the French Open last month but hasn’t had the best preparations on grass after losing to Britain’s Jack Draper in the round of 16 at Queen’s.
Instead, Jannik Sinner enters Wimbledon as the top seed for the first time. Novak Djokovic will also be in the draw but there are concerns over his fitness as he has not played since retiring from the French Open due to injury.
In the women’s draw, Vondrousova was a surprise winner 12 months ago but will face a huge challenge to defend her title. Top seed Iga Swiatek has traditionally struggled on the slick surface but arrives in London full of confidence after winning a fifth major title at Roland Garros. Other challengers include two-time runner-up Ons Jabeur, 2022 champion Elena Rybakina, world number two Coco Gauff and Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka.

Pop the champagne and get the strawberries and cream ready – it’s time for Wimbledon 2024! This year's competition looks set to be full of drama once again and you can watch a Wimbledon live stream of every game wherever you are.
Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner’s rivalry is getting more intense with each meeting and a clash at Wimbledon 2024 could be epic. Jack Draper is the British number one and will be looking to perform in front of the home fans after a win against Alcaraz at Queens.
On the women’s side, Aryna Sabalenka is heavily back to win. Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff are two players who could beat her to the crown. British hopes lie with number one ranked Katie Boulter. Emma Radacanu is in with a wild card but faces a tough opening match against the seeded Ekaterina Alexandrova.
The prestigious grass courts of the All England Club play host once more to the world's best tennis players as Wimbledon 2024 kicks off this week in south-west London.
Last year's tournament saw Carlos Alcaraz wrestle the Men's title away from Novak Djokovic and seal his maiden title, while unseeded Czech star Markéta Vondroušová shocked the tennis world by winning the Women's tournament.
With Djokovic nursing a knee injury, two-time champion Rafal Nadal opting not to compete, and the great Roger Federer now retired, this year's Men's tournament looks like being the one that fully ushers in a new era, with the likes of Jannik Sinner, and Alex de Minaur tipped to shine.
World No. 1 Iga Świątek is meanwhile being widely predicted to claim her first Women's Wimbledon title ahead of rivals Elena Rybakina and Aryna Sabalenka, while this year's tournament is also set to see the long-awaited return of British star Emma Raducanu as a wild card entrant following her lengthy injury lay-off.
The oldest and most prestigious tennis tournament is in full swing as the best players in the world battle it out at the iconic All England Club for Wimbledon 2024. Recent Roland-Garros champion Carlos Alcaraz and Marketa Vondrousova return to the Championships to defend their titles on the grass court.
A fourth grand slam is in reach for Alcaraz who famously upset Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon men's final last year. He'll first need to face top-seeded Jannik Sinner if both advance to the semis. On the women's side, all eyes will be on the rivalry between No. 1 Iga Swiatek and No. 2 Coco Gauff who are both looking to grab their first title at Wimbledon.
